Hi guys;
First play test in preparation for Havoc. The scenario is the 5 month
struggle along the Korea/Manchuria/Mongolia border from May to September 1939.
Russian forces commanded by Rich "Georgi" C. and the IJA commander by Pete "Tojo"
O. and Neil"Banzai" R.
Pete had the regular army while Neil had the SNLF. Attacking over the
Khalkin-Gol River ( aka the Halsa River) they were met by the delightful surprise
of the first introduction to combat of a few new Soviet tools ( the T-34, the
Artillery tank etc...) . Attempting a brilliant pin/holding force maneuver (
Pete attacked along a wide center left flank while Neil took his SNLF with
armor over the only bridge they really had in an attempt to turn the Russian
flank. Would have succeeded if the T-34's hadn't trundled up. Most of Rich's
armor was literally on the wrong end of the table. Yet he still could turn them
around, smash through Pete and head straight for Neil. Great time, good
snacks thanks to Rich's "Better Half".
Coming up: Pete O to christen his table with a "Freedonia Chronicles" game.
Next schedule game here will be another play test for Havoc "Through the
Looking Glass".
Time: T.B.A.
I finally received a "store bought" copy of CD-IV:"Test of Battle" from
"Santa".
It is worth it. The enormity of the work that went it to this book is
remarkable and Frank Chadwick and Glenn Kidd's best effort.
Good gaming.
Vic
