According to one of my references, there were color photography processes in the early 1900s, including 1 invented in France in 1907. These were cumbersome and/or complicated and only saw very limited use - they also usually needed large format cameras, complicated multi-part filters, and other cumbersome equipment. Large scale color photography started in 1935-36 with the introduction of Kodachrome and Agfacolor Neu

Carl, you're welcome. I'm not sure whether they were entirely colorized. According to Wikipedia, some color photography was done before WWI.
