Greetings from Russia,
So, a few weeks ago I went to the Central Museum of
the Armed Forces here in Moscow. For a whole 50 rubles
extra (about $2) they let me take pictures. I thought
I'd post some of the more interesting ones:

The museum covers the Russian military from the Tsars
to today, but mostly focuses on WW2. Most of the WW2
displays were of the typical equipment displays type,
there were also a several bitter, "Hey Germany, we
ground you into dust" displays. The first two photos
are of a display of German equipment covered in Iron
Crosses. Then there's the display of German standards
thrown to the ground...
I also particularly liked the painting of the Russian
facing down the panzer with a grenade bundle.
Out back was about a 1/2 acre covered in tanks, jets,
helicopters, mobile ICBM launchers, and my two
personal favorites: the armored train (only 120 tons!)
and the river patrol boat mounting two T-34 turrets!
I've also included a picture of a Soviet LMG with what
looks like some sort of rotary feed mechanism. Does
anyone know what type of LMG this is? Also, anyone
have any idea what size (mm) howitzer that absurdly
large SP gun is? Needles to say there wasn't much
signage and needless to say what little existed was in
Russian.
There's another, much larger tank museum outside the
city that we're going to after it warms up a bit, so I
should have some more pics in a few months. Also, if
anybody wants some close ups of something in
particular let me know.
