Yeah, comedies don't do well at the Oscars either. I think Monty Python and
the Holy Grail is certainly one of the top 100 films of all time, but its
British, so it didn't qualify here.

I suppose this is only making the point that everyone defines "bad movies"
in different ways.

While "Caddyshack" is not a movie for the ages, it's certainly fun. It's
hardly worse than, say, "Back to School," and is probably only a little "worse"
than, say, "Animal House," which is rated by many as a great movie.

Indeed, it's interesting that relatively few comedies make the
list---probably b/c what's funny has changed over time (although it's interesting that
"Modern Times" IS included).

Caddyshack may not be high-brow, but it's not like, say, "The Core," or "The
Black Hole" (which some people actually LIKED). Or, say, "Pluto Nash," "Used
Cars," or some of the truly horrendous "You owe me two hours of my life!"
movies.

I'd venture it's more like "Tron," or "The Abyss," a case of "de gustibus."

(Truth-in-advertising note: I own both "Animal House" and "Back to School.")
