Scenario: Nijmagen like terrain. The board was arranged with close to six
towns (BUA's or built up area's in the new jargon). The table was cut by a
stream/small river with low lying hills on either side creating a large valley.
US Forces: 82nd. Airborne Regiment (3 battalions) with Gerry "Geronimo" L.
commanding overall and the 1st Battalion, Rich AKA "Jumpin Jim " C. 2nd
Battalion and Pete " Geronimo " O. commanding the 3rd.
The defenders were a motley assortment of a stray Stug III (or two) an
understrength battalion of Panzer Grenadiers spread as Bilbo said "...like too
little jam over too much bread ." In support was a battery of 105 leFH artillery.
Results: 1st and 2nd came down predawn. Low drop but no alert defenders and
no AA. One of Rich's Bazooka teams land about four inches in from of the first
Stug. By the time the crew woke up and realized what was going on a round
slammed into the front brewing it up and lighting up the town as it burned for the
rest of the game. The second surprise was when one of his infantry stands
next landed on top of the overall German commander and took him out in melee.
Gerry's unit was spread over about a mile and slowly got their support weapons
into the game as the converged on the next town (about board center). Pete
didn't fare too well. Opting to come in at first daylight he lost about 40% of his
incoming C-47's to AA fire. The Americans quickly overcame defenders and
succeeded in their overall objective of securing a supply route. Great game and a
good time.
Don't forget August 5th his rapidly approaching and I am looking for
commitments from people who can join us at OSV that day. Pete E. will provide the
miniatures and terrain and GM the game. So far I have only two commitments two
help out. We could use 4 to 6 more that day. We will meet at 9:AM at OSV and be
set up to run by 10:00. Please RSVP me if you can make a commitment and come
out that day.
Thanks.
Vic

Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow.
Do not walk beside me either.
Just pretty much leave me the hell alone."
