I was looking up a friend and came across this listing for the MIT
Educational Studies Program's November 05 Splash session. Apparently
they were doing a war game of at least some of the Napoleonic wars.

No idea if they got the 37 people they wanted, but this might be
another venue for getting new players. Perhaps someone at MIT's
Strategic Gaming Society would like to help.

Were it not for my idle and not so idle endeavors at this program
while in high school, I would never have seen the Ed's 80's europe
microarmor war game and may not have gotten into this hobby. With
Weapons of Will 2.0 will not be ready yet due to other commitments,
but I am sure others would offer better games. Historicals would
probably be the best considering the educational purpose of ESP.

Z107-U9A: Fortuna
Yelena Synkova, David Posner, James Welch, Alyssa Barbour
In 1805 all of Europe was engaged in a free-for-all started by the
notorious Napoleon Bonaparte. This was a time of brutal warfare,
broken alliances, greed, and tyranny. Anything went; the best general
came out on top, victorious over all.

Two hundred years later, YOU get the chance to go back in time, to try
your luck as one of those general; to fight your way through Europe
claiming victory over the world.

Fortuna is a Napoleonic Campaigns simulation designed to recreate the
battles and journeys of the Napoleonic Wars. Each player will command
an army with which to aid Napoleon or try to stop him while at the
same time maintaining your power and lands from being taken over.
Battles will be played out on actual historical battlefields (blown up
historical maps) using miniature replicas of cavalry and infantry of
the times. Strategy (both military and psychological) will determine
who emerges the victor and who is wiped out. You're in charge; you
have the army, the resources, and the plan. How will you change the
course of history?

Prerequisites: You MUST attend one "Fortuna, prolusio..." class (held
Saturday 11AM-1PM OR 2-4PM).
Meeting Time
Sunday: 9 AM - 1 PM
	Grades: 8 - 12
Enrollment: 37 (max 40)

Z316-S11A: Fortuna, prolusio... [there were two of these sessions]
Yelena Synkova, David Posner, James Welch
In this preliminary meeting for Fortuna, we will familiarize you with
the Napoleonic era from a broad perspective. Specifically, we will
briefly concentrate on the social structure, weaponry, technology,
strategy, and other significant topics of the Napoleonic Wars. The
second part of class will be devoted to demonstrating the specifics of
Fortuna and getting to know the other players of the game. Fortuna,
prolusio is required for participation in Fortuna the next day.
Meeting Time
Saturday: 11 AM - 1 PM
	Grades: 8 - 12
Enrollment: 26 (max 30)
